Leadership in Academia: Strengthening skills, shaping responsibility
Leadership in academia - be it in teaching, in teamwork or in dealing with supervisors - is omnipresent and at the same time a topic that is rarely taught. Have you ever wondered how you would lead a team? Have you ever had issues with the leadership style of your supervisor? Are you generally interested in how power and responsibility can be navigated?
This two-day workshop is aimed at PhD candidates at the department of social sciences who would like to strengthen their leadership skills and prepare themselves for current and future leadership responsibilities. The aim of the workshop is to examine one's own leadership strengths and challenges, to get to know leadership styles and tasks and to develop practical tools for everyday academic life.
The course offers practical insights into questions such as: Where and how do I encounter leadership as an employee at the university? How do I lead myself and others? In addition to self-reflection and the development of individual strengths, different leadership styles and their application will be examined.
The workshop will be led by Dr. Deniz Seebacher. She holds a PhD in anthropology and is an experienced organizational consultant who has been working internationally with managers from various organizations for over 15 years.
