Working Healthy in Demanding Situations (Workshop Part I )

We all know the draining feeling of workdays lost to emotionally taxing situations like tough feedback, supervision conflicts or deadline pressure—compounded by Zoom interruptions, tab chaos and endless emails.
Modern PhD work in flexible settings—from research to teaching—amplifies these energy robbers through constant task switching and emotional stressors, blocking satisfying deep work sessions.

In this workshop, we address these PhD challenges to develop better coping strategies. The main goal: Enable PhD students to create their own healthy, motivating and productive workflow. In the first session, participants explore key concepts of conscious energy and emotion management, adapting them for practice between workshops. The second session reflects on experiences, diving into individual needs and typical situations.

This Workshop is led by Dr. Daniel Kunzelmann. He is a researcher, lecturer and trainer on digital work culture and health education. His current research focus at the
University of Basel is on the negative effects of digital media on our satisfaction, well-being and productivity. As a qualified trainer, Daniel offers scientifically sound and application-oriented workshops on the topics of (digital) stress, resilience, workflow, Time competence and self-management. He has several years of experience working with companies, public administrations and universities.

This workshop has two parts:

Part I: Monday, 23.03.2026, 14:00-18:00

Part II: Monday, 30.03.2026, 14:00-18:00
