Workshop

Research within the pandemic condition - Challenges and Improvisation

Workshop on the challenges of doing research during Covid-19 and the necessity of improvisation by Dr. Claske Dijekma (swisspeace)

Restrictions with regard to mobility and face-to-face contacts due to COVID-19 have been a serious setback for carrying out field research. Due to the duration of these restrictions, postponement is not an option. Adaptation and improvisation are required to review carefully designed research plans.

This PhD workshop seeks to share resources for junior researchers whose social research projects have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, or that deal with other situations that require the revision of qualitative research methods such as the refusal of a visa, outbreaks of violence, natural disasters or other unforeseen events.

The PhD workshop draws on the one hand on individual experiences of those present and the solutions they found and on the other hand on literature that emerges of solutions researchers found with regard to:- netnography / virtual / digital /online ethnography, anthropology - doing research at a distance, working with third persons for data gathering

Please sign up by March 12th by sending an email to j.buechele@clutterunibas.ch. Please indicate if you wish to share your experience of doing research during Covid-19.
