Prize: “The most valuable work of African anthropology”

Cover

George Paul Meiu’s book Queer Objects to the Rescue: Intimacy and Citizenship in Kenya (University of Chicago Press, 2023) just won the 2025 Amaury Talbot Prize of the Royal Anthropological Institute in the U.K. for “the most valuable work of African anthropology.”

In a new book symposium, published in HAU: Journal of Ethnographic Theory, well-known anthropologists Anne Allison, Tom Boellstorff, Moisés Lino e Silva, Martin Manalansan, Mwenda Ntarangwi, and Vaibhav Saria review Queer Objects to the Rescue and engage in a generative conversation with the author on the book’s ethnography, concepts, and contributions.
