The Changing Societies master’s program provides students with a solid foundation in theory and methodology, enabling nuanced analysis of social change and current challenges and to contextualize them within an academic framework. The program’s goal is to empower students to critically reflect on social developments and to actively shape them in a solution-oriented and responsible manner.
During their studies, students engage with the social, cultural, and political dynamics of changing societies. They acquire in-depth knowledge of key social science theories and learn to critically discuss them and apply them to current issues.
At the same time, the program teaches qualitative and quantitative methodological skills that enable students to independently conduct empirical research on social issues. They learn to use academic literature critically and productively, to combine theoretical reflection with empirical research, and to develop their own research projects using sound methodology.
In addition, the program strengthens important transversal skills: independent and critical thinking, problem-oriented work, efficient organization of one’s own work, and the ability to clearly communicate complex relationships both orally and in writing.
