G3S offers low-threshold courses to supplement the existing doctoral courses offered by the departments and the university (GRACE). In addition, G3S provides selective financial and administrative support to the subjects of the Department of Social Sciences in the organization of doctoral events.
In order to tailor the program as closely as possible to the needs of doctoral students, we are happy to receive suggestions for courses, lecture series, exchange groups, etc. After a needs assessment and approval of costs, the G3S Coordination takes over the organization completely or supports doctoral students in the independent planning and implementation of events.
There are two ways of documenting credits earned:
Both forms of proof of performance are forwarded to the G3S coordinator at the end. This is the basis for the confirmation of the completed credits for the doctorate (within the G3S this is a total of at least 18 credit points).
All courses for doctoral students in the various subjects are listed separately in the course catalog. Registration for the courses takes place via the official registration system.
The G3s itself organizes events that are not listed in the course directory. It draws attention to these and other events that could be relevant for doctoral students in a regularly updated calendar. Most of these events take place during the lecture period.
The G3S supports its members in gaining teaching experience during their doctorate. To this end, the G3S finances one teaching assignment per semester. Anyone who would like to teach must submit an application to the Steering Committee. Applications can be submitted by two members of the G3S who are doing their doctorate in two different subject areas of our department. The allocation is decided by the management committee.
