The Department of Near & Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Basel receives annual funding from G3S to support doctoral students' activities. 

Among other things, the department uses this funding to support the doctoral workshop held once a year in the fall and the doctoral colloquium, which is held each spring in cooperation with the Institute Middle East and Muslim Societies at the University of Bern and the Department of Islamic Studies at University of Zurich’s Institute of Asian and Oriental Studies.
