Supervision of Doctoral Studies

In order to matriculate for doctoral studies in the social sciences and thus at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, you need at least one supervisor who is affiliated to one of the different subject areas and who is admitted to supervise doctorates (habilitated). The second supervisor can be an external person - but they must also be formally authorized to supervise doctorates. Although the framework for doctorates in the social sciences is regulated by faculty requirements, the supervisors have a strong influence on the framework.

In order to clarify whether a supervisor is suitable for the project, not only in terms of content but also in terms of supervision style, it is advisable to clarify expectations and supervision style during the initial clarifications and discussions. In addition to the support provided by the supervisors, the G3S team is always available to answer questions and provide advice.
