The G3S is part of the Department of Social Sciences at the Faculty of Humanities and is open to all doctoral students in the department. The aim of G3S is to network doctoral students with each other, promote exchange and support doctoral students individually in their work. The G3S is managed by the Executive Committee and the Coordination Office. In addition to the coordination office, G3S members have access to 11 workstations in various offices (incl. printer, scanner, office supplies and coffee machine, refrigerator, microwave). The G3S website provides detailed information about the services offered by G3S, publishes important general information about the doctorate and provides details of the university's contact points for various matters. In order to increase the visibility of doctoral students, every member of G3S can publish an online profile about themselves and their doctoral project. Media appearances by doctoral students are also published. Research achievements can be recorded via the University of Basel's research database.
