
Admission to a master’s degree program requires a bachelor’s degree with 180 credit points from a higher education institution recognized by the University of Basel.
Admission without additional requirements is granted
a. with a Bachelor's degree from the University of Basel in one of the following study subjects:
b. with proof of equivalent academic achievements obtained at a higher education institution recognized by the University of Basel.
c. with proof of academic achievements equivalent in scope and requirements to a Bachelor’s subject of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Basel, obtained at a higher education institution recognized by the University of Basel, in the following field of study:
For successful completion of the Master’s program Changing Societies, basic knowledge of theories and methods of the social sciences is recommended, particularly in the area of qualitative and quantitative empirical research. If fewer than 60 ECTS credits in social sciences courses were acquired during the Bachelor’s degree, admission is granted with additional requirements. Additional requirements may be imposed if a Bachelor’s degree only partially fulfills the admission requirements specified in the relevant Master’s degree regulations because certain knowledge and skills expected of graduates entering the respective Master’s program are missing. These additional requirements must be completed during the Master’s program.
Furthermore, very good English language skills are essential for attending the full range of courses, as the majority of courses are taught in English.
